Usas: Dawn  Like a good matron Usas comes carefully tending everything: Rousing all life she stirs all creatures that have feet, and makes the birds of air fly up.    

Ratri: Night The Goddesses as she comes hath set the dawn her sister in her place: and then the darkness vanishes. So favour us this night, O thou whose pathways we have visited As birds their nest upon the tree.

Aapah: Waters They from whom Varuna the King, and Soma, and all the Deities drink strength and vigour, They into whom Vaishvanara Agni entered, here let those Waters, Goddesses, protect me.
