Mitra: Light-God All the five races have repaired to Mitra, ever strong to aid. For he sustaineth all the Gods.

Varuna: God of Moral Order True to his holy law, he knows the twelve moons with their progeny: He knows the moon of later birth. He knows the pathway of the wind, the spreading, high and mighty wind: He knows the gods who dwell above.

Acute

“Kah: Who?” Ne’er may he harm us who is earth’s Begetter, nor he whose laws are sure, the heavens’ Creator, He who brought forth the great and lucid waters. What God shall we adore with our oblation?

Acrimonious

Ashvins: Two Horsemen Vouchsafe to us, O Ashvin Pair, such strength as, with attendant light, May through the darkness carry us. Come in the ship of these our hymns to bear you to the hither shore: O Ashvins, harness ye the car.

Aapah: Water Waters which come from heaven, or those that wander dugfrom the earth, or flowing free by nature, Bright, purifying, speeding to the Ocean, here let those Waters, Goddesses, protect me

Ratri: Night The Goddesses as she comes hath set the dawn her sister in her place: and then the darkness vanishes. So favour us this night, O thou whose pathways we have visited As birds their nest upon the tree.

Aapah: Waters They from whom Varuna the King, and Soma, and all the Deities drink strength and vigour, They into whom Vaishvanara Agni entered, here let those Waters, Goddesses, protect me.
