Exhibition at Lalit Kala
New Delhi. 2011

The various paintings included in the Pehchaan are aimed at evoking the true self from the external mask we are covered with full of greed, anger, prejudice, ignorance, past memories, negativity and unfounded enmity. Through the paintings an attempt has been made to get insight into the actual reality and common problems the nations are facing. If we start living in the present, away from past memories the perspective and perception will change. If we develop a holistic approach the segmented outlook will change. If we keep on playing a zero sum game through mind devoid of feelings of the heart, the end result has to be a lose-lose situation. If we keep on fighting within as two estranged brothers, it is our own mother earth that is going to bleed. If we make each other as a target and keep on hitting than we, we are not the only sufferer but the youth and coming generation will also be affected.

The paintings are indicative of the fact that our minds have failed by now; let’s give a chance to heart to solve this age old enmity by focusing on solution rather than focusing on problem; by living in present rather than past; by looking at common interest and interdependence rather than mud-slinging and factionism; by looking at common needs rather than greed and by feeling as one rather than living in the mechanically divided world.
